Pediatrics (also spelled paediatrics) is the branch of medicine that deals with the medical care of infants, children, and adolescents. The upper age limit ranges from age 14 to 21, depending on the country. The workers in this field are referred to as pediatricians.
Pediatric Clinic
The Out Patient Clinic runs six days a week. Here, our pediatrician’s deals with all kind of routine problems including immunizations, acute illnesses, follow up of previous admission etc.
Accident and EMERGENCY (A & E)
Our (A & E) Department works round the clock, where our pediatricians are available on call all the time. This service is meant to deal with emergency problems like breathing difficulty, seizures high fever etc.
In-Patient Services
Those children who are sick and require regular monitoring and care by the medical staff are admitted to the Hospital. We have sharing rooms and single rooms. Very sick babies who
require close monitoring are managed in the Neonatal intensive care unit and pediatric intensive care unit.
1. Normal New-born
All the children born at St. Philomena’s Hospital are seen by our pediatricians. Most deliveries are also attended by the pediatricians. We have well-equipped delivery rooms and a nursery to take care of the newborns. This is well supported by our Neonatal- trained nurses who provide full support to the mothers in taking care of the newborn baby. The pediatrician sees the newborn daily while they are in the Hospital. Before discharge from the Hospital, the baby receives the regular vaccinations. We also offer neonatal metabolic screening for thyroid and other related problems.
