Department of Surgery at St.Philomena's Hospital has a glorious past and a great future. The legendary film star: Amitabh Bachchan was operated in this hospital when he was injured during the shooting for the film "Coolie". The department is geared up to provide comprehensive state of the art surgical care with the ability to perform the entire gamut of surgical procedures both elective and emergency. This includes the general surgical operations for hernia, thyroid, breast, piles etc. The other specialities include gastrointestinal surgery, colorectal surgery, hepato-biliary-pancreatic surgery, cancer surgery and minimal access surgery.
